Compact M.2 PCIe NVMe Storage

AMP M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs offer compact storage for embedded, edge and networking systems. Choose from Gen4, Gen3 and Gen2 configurations to match your host platform. Commercial and industrial options are also available, depending on the series.

M.2 Defines the Physical Format

M.2 2230, 2242 and 2280 are all 22mm wide. The final two digits indicate approximate board length in millimeters, so mounting position and system clearance must match.

PCIe NVMe Defines the Data Path

These drives communicate over PCI Express using NVMe. However, an M.2 connector does not always support both NVMe and SATA drives. Check the host interface and connector keying before choosing a drive.

What is the difference between M.2 NVMe and M.2 SATA?

M.2 describes the physical form factor. NVMe drives use PCI Express, whereas M.2 SATA drives use the SATA interface. Therefore, check host interface support and connector keying before selecting a drive.

Which PCIe generations and lane configurations are available?

Available series include PCIe Gen4 x4, Gen3 x4, Gen3 x2 and Gen2 x4. However, actual performance depends on both the drive and the host’s supported generation and lane count.

Which M.2 form factors are available?

Can a Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD work in a Gen3 host?

Are commercial- and industrial-grade options available?

Do all M.2 NVMe SSDs include encryption or power-loss protection?

These features are available only on selected configurations. For example, a series may offer encryption or power-loss protection as an option. Check the exact part for AES-256, TCG Opal, power-loss protection, power-fail protection and end-to-end data-path protection as required.

What information should I provide with an M.2 NVMe inquiry?

Start with your host platform, M.2 size, interface, capacity and operating temperature. Then, add your workload, annual volume and existing part number, if available. You can also include NAND preferences, firmware needs and the required program life.
